Vein Removal Treatments

DR. ESPOSITO EXPLAINS WHY TREATING VENOUS INSUFFICIENCY IS SO IMPORTANT

Our vascular surgeon and vein specialists perform quick and easy minimally-invasive procedures right in our office to treat your deep veins that are causing vein disease (venous insufficiency).

Vein treatments at Milford Vascular Institute are performed under local anesthesia, and they include:

After the deeper malfunctioning veins have been closed using the above procedures, large varicose veins that remain can be physically removed using the ambulatory phlebectomy procedure.

Vein removal is performed through a small puncture in the leg so it does not require any sutures or staples. Healthy blood flow is restored through your other well-functioning veins. These procedures allow for quick recovery time and leave minimal to no scarring in the treatment area.

WHY SPIDER VEINS ON THE LEGS SHOULD NOT BE IGNORED

Our skilled vein specialists perform spider vein removal using foam sclerotherapy as well as visual sclerotherapy.

During foam sclerotherapy, ultrasound guidance is used to help our vein specialists locate the bulging veins that are beneath the surface of the skin. These bulging veins may not be visible on the skin’s surface, however they are the cause of the formation of the visible spider veins that form.

A tiny needle is inserted into the vein, and a foam medication is injected directly into the vein. The medication causes the veins to shrivel up and close.

After the deeper veins that feed spider veins (tributary varicose veins) are closed using foam sclerotherapy, visual sclerotherapy is performed to close off the tiny spider veins that are visible at the surface of the skin.

Spider vein treatments are performed right in our offices using minimally-invasive techniques so you can enjoy no downtime and quick recovery.

Outpatient Endovascular Procedures In Our Office-Based Laboratory

DR. ESPOSITO EXPLAINS PERIPHERAL ARTERIAL DISEASE DIAGNOSIS & TREATMENT

Peripheral arterial disease, also known as PAD, is a condition in which plaque builds up inside the leg arteries. This causes a constriction of blood flow within the artery.

The arteries carry blood that is rich in oxygen and nutrients down from the heart to the legs.

When blood flow to the legs becomes constricted due to PAD it can result in leg pain and leg cramps while walking. Left untreated, it can eventually lead to gangrene and amputation. So early diagnosis and treatment of peripheral arterial disease is crucial to maintaining good vascular health.

Here at Milford Vascular Institute, we offer free PAD screenings all year round. Give us a call at (203) 418-7386 to schedule your free screening today.

WATCH HOW MAY-THURNER SYNDROME IS TREATED IN OUR OFFICE-BASED LAB

Iliac vein compression, also known as May-Thurner Syndrome is a condition in which the iliac vein becomes compressed between the iliac artery and the spine.

When the iliac vein becomes compressed, it restricts blood flow from the legs to the heart, causing blood to accumulate in the leg. The result is stagnant blood pooling in the leg, causing leg swelling, pain, and a multitude of other negative effects.

With the use of IVUS intravascular ultrasound for precision, during May-Thurner Syndrome treatment, our vascular surgeon opens up the iliac vein by placing a stent in the exact location where the iliac vein was being compressed.

This helps restore healthy blood flow from the legs back up to the heart.
